It has recently been announced that the RAF Marham Victor gate guard is available free to an organisation that can collect and restore it.

A spokesman for RAF Marham said: “Following recent structural integrity surveys it has been discovered that the Victor Gate Guardian at RAF Marham is suffering from structural weaknesses and would require urgent rectification work to prevent it breaking apart.

As recovery and storage of such a large aircraft would be quite an undertaking I can’t help feeling that the old girl’s days are numbered. If it is scrapped it is proposed to keep the tail plane.
